Navigator pilot Program funding announcement
12 May 2016: Minister for Education James Merlino announced Northern Mallee and Murray Mallee Local Learning and Employment Networks are successful joint applicants to conduct Navigator services across the Mallee.
The Mallee Navigator service is one of eight pilot programs across Victoria with funding of $8.6m over two years as part of the Victorian Government Education initiatives.
Navigator service pilots will seek out disengaged learners aged 12 to 17 and actively work with them and their support networks to return them to education or training.
Navigator is available to young people who:
are aged between 12 and 17 years of age
have attended less than 30% of the previous school term (if enrolled in a school)
either live in or have most recently been enrolled in an education setting in the 8 Navigator sites. See: Navigator areas for Vic Schools (xlsx – 94.8kb)
Disengaged young people who meet the eligibility criteria may be referred directly to Navigator.
The eight Victorian areas where Navigator is being piloted are Mallee, Central Highlands, Western Melbourne, Hume Moreland, Goulburn, Ovens Murray, Southern Melbourne and Bayside Peninsula.
