Chefs of the Future competition
3 day cooking competition. It is open to all enrolled commercial cookery students and apprentices from the greater Sunraysia region. The public can watch the cooking on closed-circuit TV from noon on the Monday and Tuesday, and see the finished meals plated up for judging. The winners are announced at a special dinner on Wednesday evening for industry, family, friends and anyone interested in the district’s best food.
The competition also forms a part of the AusTAFE Culinary Trophy as a regional heat. The six eventual finalists are selected to represent Sunraysia in the state final.
The judging panel consists of local executive chefs, hospitality identities and teachers and is adjudicated under Australian Culinary Federation guidelines.
The eventual Chef of the Future is crowned after presenting the best dish on the final day after the six heat winners battle it out in a mystery box final prepared by Slow Food Mildura.
